In his role as a Building Analyst, Okkyun Im is responsible for energy modeling, building simulation, and managing complex geometry within IESVE.
Prior to joining the Cyclone team, Okkyun worked as a Building Scientist at Lamar Johnson Collaborative, where for two years he conducted performance analyses for projects including PsiQuantum, multiple residential developments, and office buildings. His work encompassed daylighting, wind studies, life cycle assessment (LCA), and a range of building simulations.
Before that, he served as a Research Fellow at the University ofNorth Carolina at Charlotte, focusing on performance optimization, systemintegration, and advanced building façade system development. During hismaster’s program in Architectural engineering, he developed a responsive facadesystem that earned two patents, multiple competition awards, and severalpublished papers.
A native of Gwangju, South Korea, Okkyun earned his Ph.D. from theUniversity of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In his free time, Okkyun enjoys spending time with his 9-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter and is actively involved in his church community.
